There are some great and fun techniques to be doing hypnosis. I have heard and read that hypnosis has some physiological effects as sometimes the mind has so much power over the body at times. There have not been great resources out there for me to learn about hypnosis and the use of it's techniques so I am glad I found this ebook. It is awesome!

This hypnosis book is so interesting!! This one time in elementary school, they had a guest speaker hypnotize 5 students and it was the craziest experience ever. Luckily for me, it wasn't me because that seemed really scary but it was crazy to watch. This book dives into the basics of how people are hypnotized and how you can hypnotize others!

I was kind of septic before reading this book , but after starting reading it i realized that this book was well structured and giving real information with some stuff that i didn't even know , i liked the honesty from the author and the shown researches about hypnosis , this book also deals with the myths of Hypnosis that people may believe with what's shown in the media ,i recommend this book to anyone looking to know better hypnosis !

great parody

Kovalic creates a great parody of the superhero world. He has his psychaitrist treating the super-humans. It's told in a series of short vignettes. And it works this way. I mean, it isn't something that you could go on with forever, but for a few stories here and there, it is pretty well done. I'm just surprised it wasn't done sooner.

Not your typical super hero comics

If you are a fan of Kurt Busiek's Astro City comics, then you'll probably enjoy Dr. Blink. Super heroes are people too, and they have just as many (if not more) neuroses as the rest of us. Lucky for them, Dr. F. W. Blink is there to help them work through their problems.

This book is comprised of several vignettes of varying length, plus two guest strips. The first is by Dan Taylor and Chris Fason of [...], and the second is by Alex Robinson, featuring Ultra-Gal. There is also a short story by John Kovalic in the back. I enjoyed reading this book thoroughly, and not just because I'm friends with two of the three creators!

Funny, clever, and simple.
Yes, some of us made some of these super-hero jokes ourselves, but this had me giggling the whole time.
A darn good read.
It's a shame that, even though it's labeled "Volume One," it's the ONLY volume.

Bad presentation, good information, and more bad presentation.

Basically, the information this book contains is rendered inaccessible by the poor presentation.

Remember writing that paper where you needed more length, so you went back and reworded everything to be expressed in a more complicated way? That's this textbook. Sentences are needlessly long, making content more difficult to absorb. Word choices are fluttery and fanciful when they need to be brick-solid. The prose squanders my time and my attention.

Composition is bad. This book consistently names something I've never heard of, talks for a few paragraphs about it as though I know what it is, leads me to believe I've missed something and maybe I should go back and find it, and then finally defines the thing. Additionally, time after time something is brought up and then dismissed as being "beyond the scope of this text" or contained in proper detail in some other, future chapter (your princess is in another castle...).

Images are never anywhere near the point in the text that references them! Reading about figure X-X? Well, figure X-Y is directly adjacent to what you're reading, and X-X is two pages back. For an e-book this is impossible to deal with, and even for a physical copy this would be ridiculous.

And the jokes? Yes, it's got jokes. They aren't good. They aren't funny. They are meant to be a way of keeping the reader engaged, but they fall flat and they take up space I had hoped would contain useful information.

This textbook is awful. It contains mountains of good information, but the writing is so bad as to render the content inaccessible.

Dry and Very Technical

I bought this book for a course I was taking on DBMSs, and I found it to be extremely dry and difficult to read in terms of staying captivated - even for a textbook. I understand database management may not be the "coolest" thing to read about, but a good textbook will keep the reader engaged while teaching them something of value. However, the book did offer good knowledge about the basics of what a database is, its role in a business, how to cultivate one, and how to maintain one.

The only thing that threw me off was that the product picture said "International Edition," but nowhere in the product description did it suggest that it would be the international edition, so I made the assumption that the product photo was off. I ended up receiving an international edition, which I wasn't totally expecting just because the post didn't exclusively state that, and in my experience the seller states that up front. In terms of content, it wasn't vastly different, it would just have been nice to know beforehand since international editions are significantly cheaper than US editions and if I had known that I would have bought my international edition somewhere else that offered cheaper pricing.

it seems like the author goes to great lengths to explain them ...

If this book is necessary for a class (as was the case for me) then I feel for you. There are a lot of concepts discussed and while some of them can be a little confusing, it seems like the author goes to great lengths to explain them in a way that makes everything as complicated as possible. I thought the idea of a textbook was to clearly impart information and ideas. This book does the exact opposite. The author is clearly more interested in 'sounding smart' than explaining thing in a helpful way.
