About the Author
Simon Raybould is a speaker and trainer. As a speaker, he specialises in resilience, emotional robustness, public speaking and presenting. As a trainer, he is the director of the training company Aware Plus. He worked for 24 years as a university researcher, publishing in many peer-reviewed journals and developing an international reputation. He worked with several government and ministers and was the head of the largest social science research unit in the UK.

A 'must have ' Presentation Skills book

‘Presentation genius’ is a book that everyone who makes presentations will want to get their hands on. You choose; read the book cover to cover or dip in and out of it at will. How ever you use the book it will make you a more effective presenter.
The beauty of this book, and what makes it stand head and shoulders above the other books on presentation, is that it is based on scientific research. But it’s not dry and dusty; far from it, the style is engaging, witty, amusing and above all informative. There’s a lot to learn here which can make all of our presentations better. The ‘key takeaways’ section at the end of each chapter is particularly useful.
As a trainer of many years who has given countless presentations, I found it both reassuring and fascinating to find that there is theory behind what I do either by instinct or having learnt though experience. I certainly picked up new tips and enjoyed the ride!

I think I'm done...

I have read all 3 in this series and unfortunately I think I'm done at this point. While I like the story and the characters I don't like how short each series is. This is one booked chopped up abruptly to make a series. Each time the series ends it really is just the end of a chapter and the next book picks ups right where the other left off so it's obvious this is one book cut up into a series.
I really like the characters(Penny & Matt). I like that Matt is determined and seeks to have Penny's affections. I don't like that Penny is so hard on herself and feels undeserving of his affection. Totally couldn't stand how she wanted to freak out when they were running late to board the flight(oh my is the attendant going to yell at us...really now).
Good short read but rather than waiting a couple months for the next few chapters to be called the next book in this series I think I'm gonna call it quits on Penny & Matt's story. I don't mind paying to read books that I like. I would love a bundle of all of a complete story.
I like Dominick's writing style but I'll never know how Penny & Matt turn out, how the flight ends(cause that's when the story ended), if they make it to Paris, or what's next.

The story of Penelope and Matt continues in this third book where we find our characters engaged in the preparation of their trip to the city of love...Paris!
Matt is always fascinating even if a little misterious,always caring,attentive,full of gifts and romantic surprises.
Penelope is struggling a little to believe and to fit in this love story,'cause she feels out of place in Matt's world,'cause she is afraid to let herself go,to make herself vulnerable,she is afraid of not being enough for Matt and that in any moment he could become tired of her and abandon her,but she decide in the end to trust him and try to live her fable!
Unfortunately this book end with a tragic,heart-stopping cliffhanger and I can't wait to read what will happen next to this beautiful couple!

Finally read and finished FOREVER WITH HIM and loved itPenny was a person who wanted to do er job until the night of a snowstorm and she is stranded with Matt. She works in a library and they both share the love of books. She doesn't know who he is and that he is a billionaire until they are rescued. They wanted to be together and they fell love Penelope life is quite and Mat's is with crowds of paparazzi, expensive places. She has wanted ot go to Paris and Matt takes her but while their somethings with his company any he is stuck in front of hi computer day and night leaving Penny on her own and things happen.

Like Purmell and Weber’s Christmas Tree Farm (2006), this blends light fiction with nuts-and-bolts about an outdoorsy family business. Two children, Hannah and Hayden, appear perched on a horse-drawn sled headed for Grandpa’s “sugar bush,” where they join three generations of family members (and a bevy of onlooking forest creatures) in collecting, boiling, and bottling the season’s first batch of maple syrup. Apart from the characters’ L. L. Bean–like fashions and the trendy names of the featured kids, the family’s traditional syruping methods evoke a bygone era, as do Weber’s folk-art-style paintings, which are reminiscent of Will Moses’ quaint country scenes. The reliance on end matter to explain terminology, such as sheeting and hydrometer, seems odd, since readers unfamiliar with syruping will want this information up front. Still, the book’s interesting backstory about a product most children find more than a little appetizing will sweeten early-spring curricula. Jill Weber is an illustrator and book designer. Her heartwarming illustrations have appeared in a wide range of books for children and adults. Ann Purmell has written several picture books for children. Before becoming an author she worked with children and teenagers as a psychiatric nurse for many years.

syrup making book for kids

This book tells the basic story behind making maple syrup, but has some artwork that is not at all like the process we personally use to make syrup. They show animals drinking sap from the buckets while that hang on the trees. I don't know who allows this to happen, maybe some do, but not in my sugarbush! Otherwise it is fun and informative.

The Brockwells, a large extended family, enjoy producing maple syrup together. Every member of the family, including the little cousins and the grandparents, has a job to do in the various stages of production. First they tap the maple trees and hang buckets to collect the sap, and when the buckets have filled, they pour the sap into a giant barrel to take to the sugarhouse. From a storage tank in the sugarhouse, the sap runs into evaporating pans and is heated to a boil. Once the correct temperature is reached and enough water has boiled off, the syrup is ready to be filtered, poured into jars, and graded according to sweetness and color.

This excellent book is sure to please with its informative text and delightful art work. The clear descriptions, detailed illustrations, and author's note in the back all work well together to make Maple Syrup Season a useful resource for teachers seeking to spice up a lesson about natural resources. Armed with new knowledge about the difference between Fancy Grade and Grade A-Dark Amber, the reader may see a whole new side to things while walking through the maple syrup section of the local grocery store.

Favorite Picture Book on Maple Syrup for Young Children

I just read through a number of picture books on making maple syrup with my children (ages 2-9). This was my favorite. The illustrations were delightful enough to keep the attention of even my 2 year old, and the text provided enough information so that all my children could learn about the process. We also enjoyed Sugaring, Sugarbush Spring, & Sugar Snow (My First Little House).

Almost every page contains a full page, beautiful color reproduction. Of course, Matisse is the most heavily represented
of the group, but other fauves aren't given short shrift. Derain, Marquet, Dufy and others are given sufficient coverage.
The author provides a brief and readable history of the movement. All in all, it's an excellent introduction to fauvism.

Great information, too much self promotion

I think Woman Code is a fantastic book for all women to read, especially those in their 20s, 30s and 40s. Vitti does a great job of explaining how our bodies are supposed to function, the interplay between hormones and her message is extremely empowering. The idea that our hormone function is basically a system and we can knock over the dominoes, but we can also get it realigned and back into balance. Hormones have always been this black box and something that people feel are a puzzle and untouchable, but Woman Code gives you the tools to unlock it and figure it out. I also love the "every meal, every day" concept. It's a life-long effort and it takes real attention and work to make it happen, but it is possible. There just aren't any quick fixes. All good stuff! The reason I don't give this book 5 starts (and I wavered between 3 or 4) is because some of it reads like a blog post/promotional material. As soon as you pick up the book, you know that Vitti runs a successful business in NYC. You're likely to check out her website and know that she has distance products as well for those who are not local to NYC. If you're at all interested in her products, you'll know where to go, but she seems to chime in constantly about her clients, her business, her facebook page, where you can find more, etc etc. In my view, the beauty of writing a book is offering a low-cost product and getting information out to the masses. Undoubtedly, those who want more support know where to go, but when I buy a book I don't want it to be blatant promotional material for a practice. That's the aspect that feels a bit amateur to me here. But, overall, it's a great tool and something all women should read, whether or not they have known hormonal imbalance.

I Didn't Understand My Body Until Now

I'm embarrassed to say, as an educated woman who is health and fitness savvy, I really didn't understand much about the endocrine system, how it works, nor the impact that nutrition has on its various processes. This book isn't just about "eating healthy." This is understanding the entire engine that drives feminine functionality. At first I thought the title was more of a catch phrase. Now, having read the book, I really get that there is a "code" that is very much like an operating system, one that we can influence and regulate and work with to become our best selves. What an eye-opener. I'm eating kale. I'm using aloe vera on my face. Super drop dead simple things to incorporate. It's all working. The changes the author promises offer real results. I'm shocked - and I wasn't even a skeptic, but so much of the nutrition information out there is conflicting or really complex to execute. Whether you're looking to lose weight, improve your libido, trying to get pregnant, or dealing with hormonal changes, no matter the age, this information should be required reading for every woman to understand her body and to help her become her best Self. It is also the perfect time to be having these conversations. As more and more women are deciding whether or not to "lean in" it is becoming evermore important to identify with our bodies so that we are clear about the choices we make. Incredibly important information and perfect timing. This is the beginning of a movement that shifts the focus from trying to compete with men, to owning ourselves as whole women. I'd buy one for myself, my mom, my grandmother, my daughters, my sisters.... you get the picture. I think this is the tip of the iceberg on this topic. This will be a long term reference manual and a practical "doable" blueprint for many lifestyle changes for me.

TOO much promotion but definitely some good information

There are some good points in the book and it is definitely worth a read for every woman. However i have to agree with other reviews that there is far too much promotion. It would be fine if it were just a paragraph at the end of the book, so that people have the option to take things further and pay for this if they so wish. But unfortunately it gets pretty irritating as there's probably a whole page dedicated to this in each chapter if not more.

I would've liked a bit more detail into the nutritional areas. It's great to have a chart of which foods will be helpful for different parts of your cycle, however it would have been interesting to see specifically why these foods are good.

It may just be me with my interest in nutrition, and maybe this would be too much info for some, maybe a little overwhelming. However in my experience if you understand the details of how food works and why it is good for you, you're much more likely to stick to eating it and enjoy it as well.

It's a shame i feel if you're paying for a book it should have gone into a little more depth in each area. She could easily have done this if she scrapped the pages of constant promotion throughout. Too much money for what you get unfortunately.

I admire Alisa's intentions and knowledge, but the book could definitely be improved to be better value for money.
